these days, children are entirely different
my time, around early 2000-ish, Westlife was the greatest boy band
every morning at 9am without fail, they'd put Seasons In The Sun or Faith Hill's There You'll Be on TV,
back then, we kids were obsessed with Gameboy Color, Pokemon....
nothing to do with high tech gadgets, we'd play acilok besi (?) in the school walkway, run and fall and bleed, collecting stickers and stamps, drink from the same straw (hahaha), keep a biodata book (that was the old version of Facebook), read Enid Blyton's books and of course, playing yo-yo and Tamagochi
our routine was mainly eat, sleep, school
* * *
now, about 10 years forward, everything is advanced
even me, I'm hooked to Facebook whenever I'm free
start talking about Charmander and my kids stare at me
boys will talk about Ben10, Transformers......and the girls, Justin Bieber, Korean stars.....
even my 4 year old kid 'owns' an iPad
just recently, one of my students requested to play Britney Spears' Criminal or One Direction's One Thing or LMFAO's Sorry For Party Rocking for a competition next year
i won't oppose to what they'd play, music is borderless but the lyrics of the first and third song doesn't seem right for a 8 year old
anyways.....
